Target Audience: Addiction/Professional Counselors, Nurses, Social Workers, Program Directors and Therapists.
Participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of depression on maintenance of substance use disorders;
- Develop an understanding of public policy and public health responses to addic- tion through national case studies;
- Identify the causes and scope of the opioid addiction and overdose epidemic in Maryland and recognize and respond to an opioid overdose with naloxone;
- Identify how Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is being implemented across Maryland; 5. Understand the Benefits of Empathy in Recovery;
